"For many people shame is a raw open wound with terrifying memories. Many people carry that shame for years. Living with insecurities, fears, and a sense of self disdain because of hurtful actions and exchanges from long ago. Shame holds us down with weights of judgement, condemnation, expectations, disapproval, and so much more. Some who live with shame issues feel isolated and alone, and sadly some will commit suicide.
But there is hope, there is a freedom that comes with a resurrection life and Jesus. When you come to the cross it releases the burden of shame in your life. And isn’t it comforting to know that Jesus carried our shame to the cross. He was betrayed, beaten, humiliated, and exposed, giving up his life to pay for our sin so that we might be released from the tyranny and shame of sin."
